Laura Adrian

Laura Adrian is a yoga teacher, meditation instructor, community herbalist, and writer who finds beauty, awe, and inspiration by directly connecting to the Earth whether in a city park or wilderness expedition. She offers retreats and expeditions across the Midwest where she shares her adventurous spirit with seasoned adventurers or nature curious folks. Through these experiences, she has encouraged hundreds of women to develop wilderness skills, challenge themselves, and develop a more beautiful relationship with the natural world.

Colleen Corrigan

Trained in field biology and marine science, Colleen Corrigan taught high school in Belize before taking conservation roles at the Bureau of Land Management (Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Nevada) and the US Park Service (Acadia National Park, Maine). While gaining her Master’s Degree in Art Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Colleen began teaching art courses designed to enhance participants’ experiences in and connection to the outdoors. She has held positions in the US Fish and Wildlife Service, The Nature Conservancy, and the United Nations Environment Programme’s World Conservation Monitoring Centre in Cambridge, UK. She is certified in group facilitation skills and has consulted for UNESCO, National Geographic and other organizations since earning her doctorate in environmental management and indigenous issues in 2018 at the University of Queensland, Australia. She continues to work on global biodiversity conservation policy and practice, traveling the world and bringing her sketchbook wherever she goes. She is a keen advocate of empowering people and instilling awareness of the natural world by teaching others the art of sketching simple, colorful images that can create stronger connections between people and nature.

Location, Amenities, and Logistics

Bear Head Lake State Park

Retreat takes place at Bear Head Lake State Park in Ely, Minnesota October 8th-10th. It’s a beautiful state park and we’ll stay at the group campsite directly on the lake. The site is primitive. There is no running water or permanent shelter at our campsite. Pit toilets are available. Throughout the park there are hiking paths, picnic areas, shelters, bathrooms, and showers.

 

Transportation, Gear, and Travel

Arrive as early as 4:30pm on Friday, October 8th and leave as late as 11:00am on Sunday, October 10th. You will need to supply your own sleeping bag and camping gear, though we may have renting options available or can point you towards gear rental shops.

As retreat grows closer we will coordinate meal options. If enough people are interested we can have the event fully catered for an additional fee (about $75 pp). We can also help coordinate group meal-making for those interested.

Registration (now open!!!)

 

Participant Registration

Registration includes opening and closing circles, all workshops, and camping at the group site. It does not include food, camping gear, or Minnesota State Park pass (if you park your vehicle in the park). Camping gear and food may be offered for those interested at an additional rate. There are a total of 20 spaces available.

 

Volunteer Registration

Help out with the event and receive a discounted rate. As a volunteer you’ll get to participate in the entire event. You may be asked to help with set-up, coordinating meals, clean-up, registration, or event preparation. Another option is to offer a free talent or service at the event such as foraging or traditional skills in alignment with the event and approved by the coordinator. Approximately 4-5 hours volunteer hours. There are a total of 5 spaces available.

Cancellation Policy

If you decide to cancel you may apply retreat fee towards any program with Whole Life Elevation one year from cancellation date OR a refund may be offered if your space is filled by another retreatant.

In the rare event Whole Life Elevation must cancel you may apply retreat fee towards any program with Whole Life Elevation one year from cancellation date.
